Key questions to start with BEFORE you even begin to go down the list below:

Have they written their own software.
Do they use third party providers for any of their services.
What is turn around time.
Do they farm their work to other countries like India or Africa?
Some price differently based on "dealer needs". Ask them to justify up charging based on needs, and to explain what needs warrant higher pricing.
What are their set up fees? Most other providers have a set up fee because they are farming your stuff out and have to pay the developers. We ARE the Developer. We don't need to charge you a penny to set you up. They'll defend their set up by calling us cookie cutter. We are NOT cookie cutter...we are RICH IN DATA and that's why you're paying us for.
Ask them to justify their monthly fee. What are they providing for their monthly fee besides hosting? For us, our list below is the reason we have a monthly fee. We're not charging you for your website, we're charging you for your data.
Ask them about turn around time for custom requests, then ask us.
Ask them to provide turn around time for recent clients they've launched, then ask us.
